Institutional Framework

A Unified Competency
Based System

The TVET sector of Sri Lanka, established over a century ago, underwent major reforms in 1997 to address the absence of coherence and industry-based competency orientation.

Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission

As the governing body established in 1991, TVEC is responsible for policy formulation, quality assurance, and the development of the NVQSL framework launched in 2004.

Degree Awarding Body (NVQ 7)

University of Vocational Technology

The apex body of the NVQSL Framework. UoVT is the only government university in Sri Lanka dedicated to offering degree-level pathways for diploma holders.
